Religious Education

RE is taught across the school and the units of study are taken from the Enfield Agreed Syllabus. In their RE lessons children learn about different communities and faiths. The syllabus introduces children at each key stage to specific units of study covering Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism. Each unit has a focus of either a festival or an aspect of the religion being studied and the children are encouraged to share their own experiences where appropriate. Our RE curriculum supports both British Values and our core value of respect by teaching children to be respectful of peoples’ beliefs and faith and to reflect on what we can learn from religions.

Vocabulary enrichment runs through our whole curriculum and RE lessons provide an excellent opportunity to develop vocabulary and have confidence to use appropriate vocabulary in other curriculum areas.

Where possible children are taken on visits to places of worship in order to enrich their learning and provide first hand experiences.
